A standard Japanese Pokemon booster box contains 30 packs, with 5 cards per pack (150 cards total). This is different from English Pokemon boxes which contain 36 packs with 10 cards each. Japanese boxes are smaller and more affordable, making them popular for collecting and investing.

Japanese Pokemon cards are printed on higher quality card stock, have a different texture, and are released months before their English counterparts. Japanese sets often contain exclusive cards, alternate art, and special rarities not available in English. The cards are also smaller (standard Japanese TCG size 63x88mm) compared to English cards.

A Japanese Pokemon sealed case typically contains 12 booster boxes. Buying a sealed case is the most cost-effective way to collect, as the per-box price is lower than buying individual boxes. Sealed cases also hold their value better for long-term investment.

Japanese Pokemon cards are only tournament legal in Japanese-language tournaments. For international Play! Pokemon events, you need English-language cards. However, many collectors buy Japanese cards for their superior print quality, exclusive artwork, and investment potential rather than competitive play.
